Because I Can't Sleep, I'm Bored, and it's 4AM:
A Meme.
1-How many books have you owned in total?
What. No. I have no earthly idea. Ask another one.
2-The last book you bought:
Oo, just bought six of em. :) Primal Myths, God/Goddess, Tarot: Plain and Simple, Celtic Astrology, Good Omens, and Nine Princes in Amber.
The last two are novels I've been meaning to read for a while. The rest are reference materials for the novels I write. Primal Myths is a collection of old myths; like Aztec and Zoroastrian myths. God/Goddess is about Wicca, Wiccan magic and symbolism, etc. The tarot book is, well, about tarot. I sometimes use tarot symbology in my writing, and I read cards myself too. Celtic Astrology is about the tree signs, which I don't know nearly as much about as I will once I read the book. :D
3-The last book you read:
All the way through? One of the Fafrid and Gray Mouser books. Just parts of? One of the books at McKay's I decided against buying.
4-Five books that mean a lot to you:
In no particular order:
Dracula - Especially the annotated edition. It's just so much fun! It's the one vampire book that really kicked off the genre. I once tried to write a sort-of sequel, but it wasn't very well done and I got bored of it. In it, the count turned into a child-vampire instead of dying when staked (for some reason) and he ended up with Harker and Mina, who decided to raise him. It was sort of a heartwarming family story. ...Yes, yes you read that right. Like I said, of questionable quality.
The Hobbit - I've reread this book several times. I don't know what's so great about it, exactly, but I love it. I tried to teach myself German with the German edition of it.
Marlfox - One of the late Brian Jacques' Redwall books. The Redwall books got to all be fairly similar, but Marlfox always stood out to me for some reason. I loved the songs in it. I loved the characters. I loved the audio edition I listened to on vacation once, even though they left out the wonderful songs. Something about the reader's voice. Anyway, I've probably reread this book more than any other.
Non Campus Mentis - Hilarious stupid things real college students have said on history tests! :D It always makes me smile.
The Fellowship of the Ring - I always liked this book the most out of LotR. It was far lighter than the others. There was just something fun and adventure-y about it.
