The Fanfic

Took a sorting quiz for a couple of the characters from my fanfic.  I was somewhat surprised that Nod came out as a Gryffindor, but now that I think about it, that does actually fit him pretty well.  The results suggested it was still something of a toss-up between Gryff and Slytherin.  It was probably pushed over into the Gryff territory because Nod's reaction to someone trying to take his lunch would be to punch them in the face (and the fact that he can take a joke, which is strangely not considered a quality of the other houses??)

The long-suffering Jowan unsurprisingly rated as a Hufflepuff.

I haven't done the other main characters yet.  Morrigan's pretty unambiguously Slytherin, I think, and Wynne feels like a Ravenclaw to me.  Not sure about the others.  Curious about what my versions of Zevran and Alistair rate as.  Especially Alistair.  Hm.  I should go do them.

EDIT:  Ok, Alistair's a Hufflepuff.  Not really expecting that from his answers.  It was pretty close call between all the houses for him, though.

WHAT.  So is Wynne.  By a landslide!  Ravenclaw was second choice, though.  Still, she doesn't seem like a Puff.  Hm.

Morrigan was a close running between Slytherin and Gryffindor.  With Gryff winning.  WITH GRYFF WINNING.  WHAT IS THIS.

Zevran is Slytherin by a landslide.  Finally.  Was beginning to think the quiz was bugged.

Dog is a dog.  I'm not doing him.

Leliana is a Hufflepuff.  I guess that makes sense?  Awful lot of Puffs out to save the world, here.

Sten is a Gryffindor.  Not anything shocking, there.

Oghren is also a Gryff.

Four Gryffindors, four Hufflepuffs, and a Slytherin.  HM.

EDIT2:  I'm a tie between Gryffindor and Hufflepuff.  Slytherin is this thing's last choice for me! D:

If anyone's interested in taking this quiz themselves, it's here.

I finally scanned and colored some of the art for my fanfic!  Still working on the fanfic, but figured I might as well post the art that's ready (yes there's more).

Art here... )

Like I said, I'm working on more of these!  :D

Whew!  End of the semester is annoying.  So much to do! >:V

Been working on a Dragon Age: Origins fanfic.  It follows along the same story as the game (at least at first), so I'm primarily relying on character interaction to make it appealing.  Drew some art for it too, but I haven't scanned it yet.

Doo de doo.

I've decided to put Fr. Alp and the Lanternist stories on hold until I can think of more definite plots for them.  The Fr. Alp has a few scenes I know happen, and an idea for an ending, and that's it.  The Lanternist story has a vague plot.  They don't even equal a whole story when put together, lol.

When I was brainstorming for the Lanternist story, though, I had an idea for another story.  OTL  Honestly, I have ADD when it comes to stories.  But this one actually has a definite plot laid out, so I think I'll focus on it for a while.  I even have vague ideas for a sequel, which just...  Brainstorming, I think I'm doing it wrong.

This new story is about a prince who wants the throne.  Original, I know.  This particular prince wants the throne because he was the crown prince, until everyone decided he was a changeling.  He was fairly content not having the actual throne--he was just going to try to manipulate his younger brother--but then the king basically has the scheming prince kidnapped and dragged off to a monastery to get him out of the way, and the prince decides he's going to go for broke and try to become king himself.  I don't want to give the whole plot away, but this meets with some complications.  The idea for the sequel basically picks up where the first book ends, and has some people with magical disguises and whatnot.

Started writing both the Fr. Alp story, and the Lanternist story!  I finally have a plot idea for the lanternist one. :)  Still no real plot for Father, but eh.  I'll write what I got.

Lanternist one will be a little more formal tone than most of my writing.  Am so excite about lanternist story!  *bounces*

Been working on the government for my latest story.  If you're going to write a political fantasy, you'd better know how the political stuff works, right?  So far it's an aristocracy.  The monarch isn't really absolute as there are some independent ministries that the ruler is also subject to, but that she pays for.

Also, the books for my detective story finally came!  I have to study them still though.

There's one book I'm currently writing that I'm going to make available for free on my website when it's done!  It's because it's not my usual genre (it's mainstream fiction, not fantasy) and I'm not really sure that it's publishable quality...  My friend likes it so far, but it's been so long since I wrote anything.

Anyway, I don't really want to talk about that story right now.  I've written a bunch of it, but I can't write any more before my research books get here.  Right now I'm excited about the story I made up while waiting on the books!  Yes, yes, I know I know.  I have too many stories already.  I can't help it.  Anyway, I figure the more stories I have, the easier it'll be to find one people like, right?

So, this story has a bunch of subplots, but no main plot.  It's going to be a political fantasy, and so far the main conflict is between the traditionalists, who are loyal to the sacred royal line, and the lanternists, who want governmental reform even if it's at the price of the moon going dark (since their artificial 'moon' is the only thing providing light, everyone would forever after have to use lanterns, hence their name).  Because the royals are worshiped as gods, the lanternists are heretics and have to keep their identities secret.

Another source of conflict (that ties into the main one) is the queen's search for a suitable mate.  The present queen is the last of the line, and if she doesn't produce children the magical moon will eventually go dark.  She doesn't want to pick a king who would hamper her own political power, while at the same time she wants a mate that will be influential enough to ensure that their birth petitions will go through (the birthrate in Elland is very strictly controlled because they live in a self-contained environment) at the corrupt Ministry of Birth.

There are at least three males she's narrowed her focus onto.  One is a politically powerful defense officer named Clavier.  He would bring the most to the marriage, but he would also interfere with her political autonomy.  Another is her chief advisor, Madix.  He is less powerful than Clavier and she enjoys his company, but he's unpopular and there are rumors that he has a dark secret.  The third is her chief bodyguard, Vevix.  He seems very loyal to her personally and would be the easiest to manipulate; she's also been growing closer to him.  The problem is he also seems to have lanternist leanings--he may or may not be lowborn too, I haven't decided.

I want her to end up with the advisor, but we'll see.

They also have to contend with landwalkers, which are basically land-going zombie whales.

There are so many cool subplots!  I wish I could think of a main one.

If you're writing a villain protaganist, chances are you're not out to teach some kind of moral lesson. Good, I hate that kind of writing. A story's purpose should be to tell a good story. And the story of the villain can be a very good story.

Didn't go to class today because I was still feeling sick from yesterday  YESTERDAY WIPED ME OUT MAN  Am feeling better now tho

The store in my apartment building was rickrolling everyone, and I don't think anyone but me noticed.  Speaking of my apartment, we HAD ANOTHER FREAKING FIRE DRILL  I could tell it was a only a drill because they actually made everyone get away from the building.  When there's an actual fire they don't care where we go, so long as we get out.  Got some starbucks tea because I had to go out anyway tho.  And then I got to talk to [livejournal.com profile] laetina  finally!  Yay.

Those hetalia expies, still don't have a story for them.

Subplot1: jealous Nikolai kidnaps Austin and has to be forced to release him.
Subplot2: will either or both Austin and Giselle return Fr. Gilbert's attentions?
Mainplot: something something Cardinal Della Croce something.

IT'S ALL VERY WELL THOUGHT OUT AT THIS POINT

So I had a kind of dull Halloween.  Didn't dress up because I didn't go anywhere except church and we don't get trick-or-treaters in my apartment building.  And I missed a call from [livejournal.com profile] laetina !  Sadness.  I didn't notice it until today.  I played Fr. Gil for a while tho, and wrote most of a paper.  My mom spent the night and brought me a bunch of food, which was nice.  The food, I mean.

So!  The characters I thought up recently.

Long post is long.  Time to go to my next class!

I have invented a new sandwich!  I call it "cheem" because I like that word.  Cheeeeeeeeeeeem.  Anyway, you put syrup on one slice of bread, and kraft mayo on the other, and put them together: voila!  Cheem.  I think it's really good, but then again I consider mayo and peanut butter sandwiches to be good too.  And I will drink soy sauce.  SO MY TASTE BUDS MAY LEAD YOU ASTRAY

I also recently came up with some new characters for a story, but no story for them.  They are very loosely based on Prussia, Austria, Hungary and Russia.  The Prussia one doesn't even have much in common with real!Prussia except my headcanon: that he is a priest, and a very bad one.  He's not even a Catholic priest anymore, but an Anglo-Catholic one.  He still works for the Vatican, though (long story).  I may tell you more about them later.

I need to stop inventing things and actually finish a story for once.  Oh well.

This time inked and colored!  And I finally decided what complexions the characters have. :)

Yes, I finished more of these.  :)  And this time there's a story!

You can even make villains be sympathetic without making the good guys evil!  Sometimes even good guys respond with excessive force, and there's always the fact that they're just plain standing in the way of the villains' plans.  You can have non-evil antagonists.  I'm sick of reading fanfic that gets the villains so spot-on and then suddenly makes the good guys wildly ooc.  I like it when the villains are the fic's protagonists because they're cool and dark and evil, not because they're morally superior!  Not every villain is Dr. Horrible!  Sometimes the opposing "heroes" actually are good guys.  This is ok.

I finally scanned some things I'd been drawing, and included in that were a couple pages of bikmazi characters!  They aren't inked or colored, sorry.

Thought I'd write a little about the latest story I got knocking about.
